Ayurveda

Ayurveda is the ancient system of healing that originated in India over 5000 years ago. The science descended from the Vedas the ancient books of truth.

The word Ayurveda translates as 'ayus' meaning life and 'veda' meaning the truth or knowledge, Ayurveda is often referred to as 'The Science of Life'

In recent years Ayurveda has been enjoying a revival in India and in the western world. Ayurveda not only treats illness and disease it's primary purpose is to help people remain healthy and to promote health.

By offering daily and seasonal lifestyle routines, specific personal diets and proper use of our bodies and sense organs Ayurveda gives integration between our mind, body and soul whilst ensuring we stay in harmony with our environment.

Ayurveda recognises that from the 5 mahabhutas or elements (Ether, Air, Fire, Water and Earth) the three Doshas are derived, these are the three fundamental energies that govern the environment and our bodies, these energies are called Vata, Pitta and Kapha. Each of us are a unique combination of the doshas which characterises our mind and body.
